The 1967 Mark Donohue/Team Penske Camaro Z28 is made by GMP in 1:18 scale. I got this model quite some time ago and it was the first highly detailed model I had. I paid a high price for this car, but I have never had any remorse in doing so. The car driven by Mark Donohue made its debut in the 1967 Daytona which it did not end because of technical difficulties but it did show the potential that this duo had which would then reveal itself as total domination in the years to come.

Back to the model, the paintjob is extremely well made and there are no blemishes at all. The livery is completely made by using tampos which are great and accurate in colour and position.

The front of the model is very aggressive. the lights look very realistic and the grill is beautifully done and is actually perforated. The back of the model is nice aswell with very realistic lights. The lower part of the fuel tank can be seen aswell. As you can see, the model is numbered as #3668. This is because the model is a limited edition of 5000 pieces.

The model has opening bonnet, doors and rear compartment. All shutlines are pretty much discrete but they are not perfect, could be tighter. The bonnet hinges are a real masterpiece and the doors do not have any doglegs. The only complaint I have is that the rear compartment does not keep open on its own.

First up is the cockpit, no doglegs holding the doors open luckily. The cockpit itself is very spartan and very dull. Everything is white/greyish except for the seat, dashboard and gearbox. the dashboard are guages are excellent, very realistic. The seat is ok but the seatbelt mechanisn and detail is very nice and very well made with a lot of photoetched pieces.

The front bonnet opens up nicely with realistic and functional hinges which do stay up on its own. Craftsmenship at its best. The engine is even better, loads of details and if the filter is hiding some details... viola! It comes off! I must say I am really impressed with the detail on this engine, the pinnacle of this model for sure. I will let the pictures do the talking....

The rear compartment is very simple and shows the fuel tank and some nicely done wires, as already mentioned, it does not stay open by itself, but I have reason to believe that this problem is just on my example.

The undercarriage is extremely realistic and has tonnes of little details here and there, certainly one of the best I have ever seen. The exhaust system is awesome IMO.

The wheels are extraordinary aswell. The rim is very realistic in the black/silver combo while the tyre is branded with firestone and its wide as chunky, perfect for Trans Am. The treads are very realistic aswell. the brake section may be a little let down. I cannot see any calipers and the disk brakes are not very well detailed.

In the end, I really love this model. GMP really did well. The mould itself is exceptionally well done and worth every LM I paid for it. I hope I can get my hands on more Camaros from GMP, cause for me, this model is exceptionally good. Highly reccomended.
