I got this model as a present for my 18th Birthday a couple of years ago. My not yet girlfriend (now she is!!!) got me a voucher from a well known diecast shop here in Malta. I went there and I didn't know what to get until I saw this one all open on a display case...WOW! The rest is history...Bought it right away. It captures perfectly the stance of this car and looks so aggressive and smooth at the same time.

The model is a perfect example of AA's high quality cars. The paint is all so smooth, and if it weren't for a couple of paint chips (probably my fault) the model would be perfect. The stickers are finely applied and there is no sign of a problem with these. They look just awesome. The front and back grills are all perforated meshes and are a perfect copy of the real thing. Also, the front and back lights are very good, particularly the rear ones, there is something about them that just makes it an awesome replica.

The car does not actually open up. The whole body comes off! I have only this kind of feature from top end models like the Exoto Porsche 917/30. The front part, the engine cover lift off while both doors pivot horizontally outwards. The hinges on the doors are all so sweet, so small and realistic. The gap between all the part is diccrete, but could be better. I dont know if mine has a flaw or not, but one of the doors does not shut perfectly with the rest of the body.

The cockpit of the car is very detailed. No cheap decals here, a real plastic lense with a gauge behind it. I can almost read what the gauges say! The seat, seatbelt and buckles are a masterpiece. They are made with fabric and photoetched pieces. The seat is made out of plastic, but it is realistically curved.

The front part of the car opens up to show a number of fine details, all wired up and look of so real. Beautiful!
The engine is even better, everything is there, all wires and piping are included and coloured. Another awesomely detailed engine by AA, a level of detail only availible to Exoto and CMC in its time.

The wheels are nicely done and the spokes are nicely defined. The tires are marked and coloured to add to the sense of realism this model eminates.
Behind the wheels, AA also put a detailed suspension (does not work but I dont care) and a full brake and disk caliper. So nice fine details, a shame this car does not have the ability to remove the wheels like some Exoto. The undercarriage just add some more details, most of these can already be seen from the top. Contrary to some other AA models, there are no visible screws or holes.

On the whole, it is a beautiful model. No flaws, no stupid omissions. Just perfection. An awesome piece. An old model which can be considered better than most of todays offerings. Exoto does this model too, but I am sure this is better value for money. It is one of those models which would look good in any collection. My verdict? A true gem.
