One gorgoues day, I went to Valletta, capital city of Malta. After looking at
some diecast shops, looking for some new cars... I found this beauty hiding
behind some boxes! Five minutes later, the model was sold and in my collection!
The model is a beautiful piece from Minichamps, the paint is all but perfect.
Smooth and even. The headlights and rear lights look very real, especially the
headlights. The car also has a set of foglights, a very fine and realistic
improvement. The main drawback is the use of decals, they are perfectly
applied, but they could easily brittle in the future.
The car opens up fully, the doors, engine cover and front compartment all open
to show very fine details. The door hinges are very discrete and look very
real. The front part and engine compartment do not have hinges as they
completely fall off the model.
The cockpit is to my eyes, poor. I haven't seen any pictures of this part of
the real car, so I cannot really say. However, I think it is too poor for a car
like this.
The engine cover comes off to show a very detailed engine. As you can see, the
engine is fully wired and full of plastic pipes. All in all, it is one of the
best engines I have seen from a miniature and coming from a middle range
company, it is really surprising to see this level of detail. The front
compartment opens up to show a very finely detailed tyre replacement and some
other fine details.
The wheel is very nice too, nothing to say against this part. On the other
hand, I have to praise Minichamps for not omitting the brake disk and caliper
from this model. As you can see, the rim completely hides this part, but
Minichamps still put it in the model, and in a very detailed way.
In conclusion, I must say that I am pleased with this model. It is very well
made and except for a couple of problems (cockpit and decals), I must say it is
one of the best cars I have. Even though it is an old issue (2002) it is very
close to todays standards. A great addition to my Porsche theme.
