Welcome to my little corner dedicated to the Diecastaholics Photographic
Contest (DHPC)! Unfamiliar with it? Well, here is a little introduction.
In this area, I'd like to show my own journey in the DHPC. I was able to enter in most events, but I cannot say the same about the number of wins I have.... LOL! Anyway, here are my entries! 2006 First competition, it featured "racing model with a product that was sponsored on the livery". I entered with an AUTOart Porsche 917K from the 1971 12 hours of Sebring. The livery was a Martini one, so a bottle of Martini was required.... :) ![]() Did not do as well as I hoped for, competition was much harder than I expected, especially for the first time! Managed to come in joined third on 3 votes. First and second had 10 and 9 votes respectively, it was going to be hard to get a win! Round two was next, it required a 1/18 model alongside a piece of a 1:1. I was not able to enter, not that I had a chance to win anyway! Some people can take really nice photos... Third round, the competition required a photo taken outdoors. Competition was tough, and in high numbers too! 23 members posted their entry, a new record. I managed to get.... one vote... ONE! I need a few lessons I feel! ![]() Leslie went on to win that round aswell, and he mathematically won the 2006 as he got 3 wins out of 5. Well done Les! It was decided to skip the fifth round, as the competition was effectively closed. But round four was still done. The competition required two models from two different scales. Few members posted their entry, I guess the lack of real competition was the problem. And well, no I didn't enter either..... 2007 The 2006 was over, Leslie had literally dominated the 2006 DHPC. We all hoped for a more challenging 2007, and probably it will be! New members joined up during the winter break and others perfected their techniques. It was going to be a good one. First round was not a complicated theme, two models that had some sort of connection. 14 members posted their photo and made for some good competition.... ![]() Nice shot eh? So did 10 members think.... and I won! My first ever win in the competition! Well.. since I am a moderator, my entry is not eligible for the final prize. So the non-moderating member with the highest number of votes gets the round win. But I don't mind, I am not in it for the final prize anyway. Second round of 2007, the theme was an interior or engine shot. I recycled my picture from one of my galleries, the best one looked to be from the Ferrari 250GT by CMC. A great piece. ![]() Top shot was from redleaf, with 12 votes out of 26! I just got 2 votes, but did come in in second place with 4 other entries.... not that it means much anyway! Round three, a group of at least 6 related cars was the topic of the month. I have loads of Porsche, it had to be a Porsche theme, and so I did. After deciding which cars I was going to use (and walking a total of 32 storeys) I took a few pictures, this one seemed to be the best. ![]() And.... I won again! Second time in 2007 :) Quite happy actually, was very hard to take this shot, especially with moving all those models around the house. Again, as I am a moderators at Diecastaholics.com , my win does not count in view of the whole tournament, the win went to RadAL, well done to you too!
2008 2008, a year all the administrators and regulars will remember for all the wrong reasons. Sadly, a number of issues cropped up with our forum - hosting and such. We lost the old domain and, far worse, we lost the forum as a whole! A sad thing indeed. Truth be told, I am not certain we had any DHPC during the year, but, in any case, all history has been lost. If anyone has any information, please, do not hesitate to contact me on Diecastaholics.com .
2009 A new forum, new hosting and a new
domain. Diecastaholics.com
is being used again so we did manage to secure our original name. That's always
a good thing on the world wide web. The forum still needs some tweaking here
and there, but, we are kind of sorted again. At the day of writing, 14th
February [oh yes, my fiancee is quite happy with the time I'm spending on the
pc today :) ], preparation for 2009 DHPC are being made. So
start your..... erm... cameras!
Well that's all for now. To participate or just get all the details about this competition, just log in at Diecastaholics.com for all the diecast talk and latest competitions!
